Our Pastor: Rev. Elizabeth Ingram Schindler

Elizabeth Ingram Schindler grew up in the southeast United States and relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2007 with her husband, Steven, who is a trusts and estates attorney in downtown Seattle.  Elizabeth is a 2002 graduate of Southern Methodist University and a 2006 graduate of the Divinity School at Duke University.  She was ordained as an elder in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the UMC in June 2010.

Elizabeth and Steven have a 2-year-old daughter named Caroline and an old Cockapoo named Benji.  They expect their second child in January, 2012.  When not at church, Elizabeth loves to read, hang out at Starbucks, play and watch sports (especially the Mustangs and Blue Devils!), play the guitar, watch movies, eat pizza, and spend time outside.

Before coming to Browns Point, Elizabeth served for three years as the assistant director of the Duke Youth Academy for Christian Formation at Duke Divinity School; and for two years as the associate pastor and director of spiritual formation at Seattle’s First United Methodist Church.

Elizabeth’s office hours are Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Andrew shares his talents at our church while maintaining demanding performances and teaching schedules. Andrew brings his unique boogie-woogie and blues style to many of his performances at church. And many Sundays Andrew will step away from the piano and play guitar or mandolin while he sings.

Our Office Manager: Lin Cashman

Lin is a Washington native, born and raised in Kent.  She was Housing &  Human Services Manager for the City of Kent before coming to work for Browns Point UMC.  Lin and her husband, Tom, are active members at St. Columba Episcopal Church in Kent.

Lin says: “The work I do in the church office is much more than a job for me – it is truly a part of carrying out my own covenant with God to use my gifts and talents in the world.  I come not only to work, but also to serve, and to use my spiritual gifts, my skills and talents, to ensure that the office not only runs efficiently but is also a place of welcoming, comfort and joy.”

In addition to her ministry here at BPUMC, Lin is a certificated Spiritual Director and an energy healing practitioner.  One of her greatest joys is her 5 year old granddaughter who she takes care of every Tuesday.

Lin works in the church office Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
